My dog sleeps almost all day long. We go on long walks, but he’s basically snoozing for the rest of the day. Is there such a thing as too much sleep for a dog? – Jenny W.
Dogs do need more sleep typically than a human being and cats can sleep over 20 hours a day. To answer your question in short, no there is no such thing as too much sleep for a dog. If you are taking your dog out for a normal exercise routine then you are already doing good for your pet. However, if you notice that your dog’s sleeping habits change acutely or dramatically, this may signify that something is wrong. Dogs are truly creatures of habit. Anything that alerts you as different from their normal routine may be the first clue that something is wrong with their health.
