News like this does not get shared enough. In a perfect world, we would be overwhelmed with stories about children making the world better.
Luckily, there is a little boy called Ken. Ken started an organization called Happy Animals Club, which is a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter. Happy Animals Club is located where Ken lives, in the southern Philippines.
The website was created by Ken, and in the description, he discusses his passion for saving animals.
“Hello, I’m Ken. I love animals. I have one rescue dog and two rescue cats. Ever since I can remember I wanted to open an animal shelter to help the stray dogs and cats on the streets. Here are some posters I made when I was 8 years old. My dad told me it would take a lot of money and 20 years for me to get an animal shelter. He said only grown ups can raise enough money to start an animal shelter.”
Luckily, the Internet can be a beautiful place, and pictures of Ken feeding stray dogs started to grow in popularity. When big-hearted people started to notice Ken’s passion, he started to receive donations from strangers who wanted to assist the young boy in feeding these poor animals. With the donations, Ken was able to feed the stray dogs quality food and supply the pups with visits to the vet. The dogs are certainly happy these days, and will be ready for adoption soon.
Ken has gone above and beyond pursuing his huge dream. He has collected enough money to lease a lot for a year, and though he does not have the funding to fill the lot with rescue dogs quite yet, there is no doubt in my mind that he will one day fulfill that portion of his dream.
Stories like these cannot be told loudly enough. Children get a bad reputation for being selfish and disconnected, but those stereotypes are not always true. Kids like Ken are the kind of people that we all should aspire to be like.
Dream on, Ken! Thanks for the heartwarming story.
